Rusty VanSickle has a voice that feels familiar the first time you hear it. Like an old friend on the other end of the phone that you haven’t talked to in a while, Rusty just makes you feel like you’ve known him forever. For some of you in the Genoa area, that may be true! Although he’s been told he sounds like a mix of Keith Whitley and Joe Diffie, Rusty’s God given talent is all his own.
Rusty grew up in Martin, Ohio. He graduated from Genoa High School in 1994, where he loved participating in events like the school talent show. It wasn’t long before this talent was recognized and he was off to Tennessee, where he was hired to play acoustic guitar and sing background vocals for country singer Doug Stone. He performed with Doug for several years before landing his current gig as the acoustic guitar player/background vocalist for John Michael Montgomery. When he isn’t on tour, Rusty loves being at home with his wife Kara and their son Whitley, most likely pickin’ a Willie Nelson song with Whitley, playing golf, or working on an old truck restoration project. He has also been busy working on a new album of his own! He is so excited to be back home sharing what he loves with all his family and friends.
